Mitihoon – GPSC has been selected by the Energy Regulatory Commission to join in the FiT scheme as a renewable energy developer, and the projects qualified in this scheme include 4 joint venture projects of ground-mounted solar farms with the capacity of over 193 MW, i.e., Helios 1, Helios 2, Helios 4 and IRPC Clean Power project to support renewable energy, promote clean energy to accommodate the future industrial development in the country, and enable Thailand to achieve the goal of Net Zero emissions.
Mr. Worawat Pitayasiri, President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited or GPSC, the innovative power flagship of PTT Group, revealed that 4 joint venture projects of GPSC have been selected by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for the procurement of electricity based on renewable energy in the scheme of Feed-in Tariff (FiT) for the year 2022-2030. The said 4 projects are in the category of producers of ground-mounted solar farm, and the total production capacity of them are approximately 193 MW. There are 64 companies selected in this scheme with the total capacity of 1,580 MW, and the scheduled commercial operation date (SCOD) is from 2026-2030.
The projects chosen in the scheme of Feed-in Tariff (FiT) by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) include Helios 1 Company Limited (Helios 1) 48.6 MW, Helios 2 Company Limited (Helios 2) 61.4 MW, Helios 4 Company Limited (Helios 4) 8 MW, which are joint venture between GPSC and its partner (50% each) and a joint venture between GPSC and IRPC Public Company Limited under IRPC Clean Power Company Limited (IRPC CP), in which GPSC holds 51% stakes, with the capacity of 74.88 MW. Refer to the SCOD, Helio 1 & Helio 2 are expected to be in 2026 and Helio 4 & IRPC-CP are expected to be in 2028
The Fit scheme offers the investment opportunities in renewable energy in the country, and this is also considered a great success for GPSC to be involved in the enhancement of stability in energy supply and development in accordance with the government’s policy to promote the use of renewable energy and increase the proportion of electricity production from clean energy under the Power Development Plan 2018 – 2037, Revision 1 (PDP2018 Rev.1).
The projects of GPSC that have been selected in this scheme are in Group 1. Each of them must be signed the power purchase agreement within 14 days after the date of announcement on the scheme results.
The selection to join in this scheme is consistent with GPSC’s business strategy that aims to increase the proportion of renewable energy to more than 50% by 2030. GPSC is a power innovative company specialized in the development of clean energy, both locally and globally. Thus, the company is well prepared and well equipped not only to provide environmentally friendly energy but also to promote clean energy in Thailand. This is all to accommodate the investment and industrial development in the country, and at the meantime enable Thailand to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and Net Zero emissions.
