Mitihoon – Mrs. Pranaya Nithananon, Head of Credit Card Marketing, at Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC), stated that KTC has been closely monitoring the impact of the March 28, 2025, earthquake and found no decline in members’ travel spending. Many had already made advance arrangements, such as hotel and flight bookings, before the incident, particularly for the Songkran Festival period from April 11 to 17, 2025. Chonburi province is the most popular domestic travel destination, thanks to its convenient access and diverse attractions, followed by Chiang Mai and Phuket. Japan, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, and China are top destinations for international travel. Notably, spending on travel to China has increased by more than 100%, driven by the visa-free policy.
KTC also reported that credit card spending in Q1 of 2025 (January-March) continued to grow compared to 2024. The top 3 spending categories were insurance, travel, and gas stations. The company remains confident that overall credit card spending this year will continue to grow in line with its 10% target.
